Receiving payments with Apartments.com
It takes just minutes to set up online payments. Before you get started, you’ll need your renter's email address and the details of the checking account where you’d like to receive payments.
1. From the Property Management Dashboard, select Payments under the Home tab and select then Set Up Payments.
2. Select the property or unit where you'd like to collect rent.
Here, you'll enter details like:
- The lease term
- The renter's name and email
- The rent amount and due dates
Note: If you've already set up your renter on Residents, they'll appear here as an option when setting up payments.
3. Select Complete Setup. We'll email your renter(s) and guide them through scheduling payments to you.
What are payments like for renters?
It's easy for renters to set up payments. Your renter will receive an invitation email to pay you through Apartments.com.
Renters can pay for free with their checking account (ACH transfer) or credit card, debit card, or Google Pay for a 2.75% fee.
If your renters have questions, we're here to help through our Renter Help Center.
Checking if your renter is ready to pay
After you've requested payment, check if your renter is ready to pay from the Payers tab of the ledger. Visit Payments under the Home tab on the Property Management Dashboard, and then select the address of the unit you'd like to check. Select the Payers tab to see your renter's setup status.
Checking the status of a payment
At the top of your page, you'll see the Current Balance due. That number is a running total of what's been paid vs. what's owed in Apartments.com. The ledger will show your charges (request for payment) and your renter's payment.
You can set up automatic late fees. If you choose to do so, Apartments.com automatically emails your renter and guides them through setting up a payment.
If your renter pays you outside of Apartments.com, you can record that offline payment to balance the ledger.
You can update rent collection dates if a renter renews their lease.
Enjoy the security of automatic recurring payments, rent reminders, and no hidden fees with Apartments.com.
