What is the difference between Manual Entry and Feed Automation?

Manual Entry

The Apartments.com Customer Portal allows you to add properties and list availability. Manually adding listings to this portal requires a user account. As a user, you can edit images, amenities, descriptions, property level rent specials, fees, floor plan details, and unit-level details.

Important: Manual Entry requires customers to edit or refresh listing ads every 30-60 days. If no changes are made to the listing, the listing will fall off-market as our system assumes the listing is fully occupied.

Note: Please email support@apartments.com if you need any assistance uploading lead tracking emails, phone numbers, property websites, property maps, tour scheduling, or virtual tours to your listing ads.

Feed Automation

Feed Automation is the process of connecting your listing(s) to an Internet Listing Service (ILS) that will then syndicate your listing information to all major rental marketplace websites including Apartments.com. Each of our ILS partners syndicate pricing, availability, media, descriptions, amenities, floor plan details, and unit-level information. Feed listings update automatically up to 4-6 times a day.

Note:  When you connect your listing to an ILS, your listing ads on Apartments.com will remove all the manual entry information within 24-48 hours. Your listing will then switch to a locked state in Customer Portal as the ILS acts as a single source for all content. As a result, you will not be able to edit images, descriptions, availability, pricing, amenities, or model level information manually on Apartments.com. Instead, you will need edit all ad content within the backend of your ILS provider.
