How do I connect my listing to Apartments.com Canada using Rent Manager 12 or Rent Manager Express?

Overview

Connecting your listing refers to the process of syndication. Syndication is another way of describing the communication of listing information between a third-party service and Apartments.com. The following steps provide instructions for enabling property syndication using Rent Manager 12 and Rent Manager Express. Refer to the topics below for more information depending on which service you use.

Important: Apartments.com ILS integration with Rent Manager is only available to Rent Manager Cloud based clients. Integration is not available to Rent Manager Standalone clients.

Connecting your listing using Rent Manager 12

Note: Enabling Apartments.com in System Preferences enables all properties at one time. If you wish to enable Apartments.com on a property-by-property basis, refer to the Connecting your listings on a property-by-property basis section below.

  1. Navigate to the Rent Manager 12 portal and log in to your account.

  1. Navigate to Admin > System Preferences > Online Listing > General.

Your Online Listings settings appear.

  1. Configure your Online Listings settings.
    1. Select and enable the Enable Online Listing checkbox.
    2. Select and enable the Apartments.com checkbox in the Provider Settings table.
    3. Enable the Enable "My Feed" and Manage feeds per location if necessary.

  1. Select Apply when you are done configuring your settings.

A popup for Provider Contact Information appears.

  1. Enter the requested contact information and select OK.

Note: This information automatically populates from your Rent Manager user where applicable.

  1. Select Save.

Your listing information is sent to Apartments.com for verification. This process takes 24 to 48 hours to complete, after which your listing successfully connects. Uncheck the Apartments.com Network checkbox and select Save to remove your listing from Apartments.com at any time.

Connecting your listings on a property-by-property basis

Important: Syndicating your listings on a specific property is only available for properties configured for property-level marketing configuration. To convert your property, navigate to Rental Info > Properties > Marketing Tab and follow the Property Marketing Configuration Wizard as shown below:

  1. Navigate to Rent Manager and log into your account.

  1. Navigate to Rental Info > Properties and locate the property you want to enable.

Your property settings appear.

  1. Select the Marketing Tab, select the Advanced button at the bottom of the page, and then select the Provider Settings tab.

Your Advanced Settings appear.

  1. Select the Override System Preferences checkbox and then select and enable the Enable Online Listings checkbox.

  1. Select and enable the Apartments.com Network checkbox.

  1. Select Apply at the bottom of the window.

A popup for Provider Contact Information appears.

  1. Select the Rental Info tab in the top navigation and then select Properties.

The Property: Management page appears.

  1. Select your property in the left-hand column and then select the Marketing sub-tab.

  1. Locate the Floor Plans section and then select the + icon.

A New Floor Plan Details pop-up appears.

  1. Select the Images tab at the top of the pop-up and then select Add to start uploading floor plan-level images.

  1. Select the Rental Info tab in the top navigation and then select Properties.

The Property: Management page appears.

  1. Select your property in the left-hand column and then select the Images sub-tab.

The Images page appears.

  1. Select the Add button on the bottom right of the window to start uploading property-level images.

Connecting Your Listing Using Rent Manager Express

Enabling syndication

  1. Navigate to the Rent Manager Express portal and log in to your account.

The Express Dashboard appears.

  1. Select the hamburger menu in the top navigation and then select Administration.

  1. Select System Preferences under the Preferences section.

Your General Preferences appear.

  1. Locate and select the Online Listings dropdown in the left navigation and then select General.
  2. Select and enable the Enable Online Listings checkbox.
  3. Select the Provider Settings dropdown and enable the Apartments.com checkbox.

  1. Select Save in the bottom right of the window.

A disclaimer pop-up appears.

  1. Enter your contact information, agree to the online listing terms, and then select OK.

Syndication is enabled.

Syndicating your properties

  1. Locate and select the Online Listings dropdown in the left navigation and then select Availability Filters.

  1. Select and enable how you want Rent Manager to syndicate your units and properties under the Unit Filter Criteria and Property Filter Criteria sections.

Important: Select and enable User Defined Field in either section to exclude specific units and properties from syndication. Refer to Excluding units using User Defined Fields for more information.

Your Availability Filter selections are saved automatically.

Excluding units using User Defined Fields

  1. Select the hamburger menu in the top navigation and then select Properties in the Rental Info section under General.

The Properties page appears.

  1. Select the property that you want to exclude from syndication.

  1. Locate and select the pop-up button under the UDFS section on the property page.

Your User Defined Fields page appears.

  1. Set this property to No.

Important: Manually entering No into the provided fields will not exclude the property. You must set any available toggles or options to No for exclusion to work as intended. If you need additional assistance excluding properties using User Defined Fields, contact the Rent Manager support team.

Adding property marketing information

  1. Select the hamburger menu in the top navigation and then select Properties in the Rental Info section under General.

The Properties page appears.

  1. Select the property where you want to update your marketing information.

  1. Select the View More dropdown in the right navigation and then select Marketing Setup.

Your Marketing Setup page appears.

  1. Enter your marketing information.

  1. Select Save when you are done.

Your marketing information is added to your property and syndicated to Apartments.com with the rest of listing information.

Adding floorplan and unit-level marketing information

  1. Select the hamburger menu in the top navigation and then select Units in the Rental Info section under General.

The Units page appears.

  1. Select the unit where you want to update your marketing information.

  1. Select the View More dropdown in the right navigation and then select Marketing Setup.

Your Marketing Setup page appears.

  1. Enter your marketing information.

  1. Select Save when you are done.

Your marketing information is added to your unit and syndicated to Apartments.com with the rest of listing information.
